Worm Letters

This year our class prepared and maintained a worm bin as a year long science project. The students researched how to construct the worm bin and made all of the preparations. In anticipation of the arrival of the worms students wrote letters. Some pretended to be a worm coming to the classroom and others wrote letters to an imaginary worm.

Dear Worms,

We have some things in class that you ‘re going to live in or eat. We have a little water with the newspaper. We also made some holes in it. We also have a screen placed on it. We hope you like your new bedding in our class.

Sincerly,
Kamakani

Dear Wormy,

I am excited to see you and your other friends.Your slimy body can gross me out.I hope I get to see you .I was happy about that.We are getting your place ready so you can live in your tub.I guess you are shy to see us.

Your Wormpal,

David Pawlak

Dear Lani Worm,

We will feed you everything you need too eat. Things like tea bags, fruit peelings and all that other stuff that you eat. You will love our school almost as much as you love yours.

Sincerely,

Heather

Dear Brian,
Hi, my name is Squirmy. I am a red worm that is going to your class!!! I will be happy to meet you. Maybe you can hold me or take photos of me. I will live in a big cage. I think you will feed me. Maybe you will feed me lots of food. Remember not to give me meat. Mrs. Keelan told me that your class room is great!!!!!!

From,
squirmy

Dear Worm,

I have never seen a worm before. I hope you like the bed I made for you. So please don’t eat it. It took a long time to make it out of newspaper. Worm I can’t believe you live in dirt. I live on Earth and it turns light and dark here. I will not let you out in the light but I’ll let you get food and if my teacher let’s me to let you out in the dark. I can’t wait to meet you. Bye.

From,
Pen Pal Jacob
