Journey To The New World

Dear Diary, July10,1631
My name is Chris Goon and I am 12 years old I am the son of a Farmer/Blacksmith and I am sailing to a new land with my father, mother, sister, two brothers and a crew of 40 men and women who will cook and clean. I am very excited about our journey because I have never been anywhere except for England .
We are nearly halfway there and though the food is pretty scarce, we will probably have enough to last us till we get there.
Its been six weeks since we started our journey and we are finally at the land we were looking for and the only food that we have left is a sack of patatoes, 2 jugs of water and some corn. Me, my dad, and five men went into the woodland to find a place to colonize. We left everyone else on board in case of an accident but we came back 2 hours later unharmed. After we had gotten everyone off the boat we went to the area of land we were going to live in and we set up camp.
We had brought with us 325 wooden poles that we will use to make a fence to keep animals out such as bears,raccoons and other creatures. We also brought some hollow rocks and coal to make fires so that we could cook our supper.We brought muskets so that me and my father could go hunting together.When the camp site was done I drew a sketch of it in my notebook.
We named our colony the Goonies because it was our last name. Me,my father,my brothers and10 men went hunting the next day we hid in the bushes and shot a bear and two hens. This meat would probably last the colony about two days so we will have to go hunting again tomorrow. We went back to camp and my dad started to skin the bear while my brother and sister defeathered the chicken. After we were done washing in the river we got ready to go to bed.
This Morning I woke up and went to wash in the river. After I was clean, me and my dad started to build a fire to cook the bear. After breakfast I washed my face and hands and went into the forest to explore. While I was exploring I found a trap made out of sticks and leaves it was camoflauged into the dirt and I almost stepped in it. I went back to camp and told my father what I found and he wanted to see it so I led him to it. After he had looked at the trap for about 10 minutes he finally said this “I think somebody is already here” After he said that I ran straight back to camp and told everyone about what I had found and what my father had said.When my father had come back he started up all five fire pits and put the iron racks we had brought with us on top of the flames and he told me my sister and my brother to get all our metal out of the storage tent and then to grab his blacksmith tools and then he shouted out that we are in grave danger and we need to make an army so we got together everyone who could wield a sword alltogether we had 38 men and woman and the next day we will attack.
