Book Contest 2000
This entry in the EBC Contest was a result of weekly short story starters.
Objective: Students will be able to create short stories which will then be typed & illustrated work on ClarisWorks for Kids.
Materials: Computer & ClarisWorks for Kids
Time Line: 3 - 6 Hours of Computer Time in the Lab or Class for Lessons on ClarisWorks for Kids and for completing project.
After authoring several short stories, we then were introduced to ClarisWorks for Kids. We choose our favorite short story and began typing and illustrating it. We had so much fun creating, typing and illustrating our favorite short stories that some of us continue to author our short stories on the computer.
An extension of the language arts activity would be to have the children author other types of writing forms using ClarisWorks for Kids like poems, reports, and the daily news.
