Objective: Students will be able to use construction paper shapes to make a pictures. Students will dictate a sentence to the teacher about what their picture is about.
Materials: Construction paper shape cutouts, shape manipulatives, crayons, markers, glue, pencil, pens
Time line: about 45 minutes
Procedure:
1. Pass out geometric shapes manipulatives to students. Have them play with them and make different pictures using the different shapes.
2. After they have made a shape that they like, have them get construction paper shapes that are already precut. They will get the same amount of pieces as their picture on their desk.
3. On a piece of construction paper, they will glue their pieces together to make a picture. Using crayons and markers they will add designs to their picture.
4. They will dictate to the teacher a sentence about what their picture is about. The teacher will type out their sentence and glue it to their page in the book.
5. They will share their picture in the Author's Chair.
