Some of our fourth grade classes re-wrote popular nursery rhymes. We used a template found in Claris For Kids which had the nursery rhyme on one side and space to illustrate on the other. We began by looking at the original rhyme and noting which lines rhymed with each other. We then looked at the first line and found a key word to change. As a class we, continued suggesting possible changes to each of the lines, until we had created a class composition. Each student then re-wrote the nursery rhyme on their own and then illustrated their work.
