KOA

"He ho'okele wa'a no ka la 'ino"

A canoe steersman for a stormy day - A courageous person

Koa has many meanings. Koa can mean warrior, or courage. Koa is even a type of tree. Here, we use Koa to mean courage, a trait greatly admired by the Hawaiian people. However, courage is more than taking physical risk. To face any problem and succeed, you must be courageous. It does not matter if the problem is physical, mental, spiritual, or social. Courageous people do not let problems overcome them, no matter how difficult things seem.
